Choong, Lee quit Grand Prix finals
JAKARTA (JP): The Malaysian pair of Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah have pulled out of the World Grand Prix finals in Brunei Darussalam from Aug. 8 to Aug. 12 due to Lee's back injury.
Berita Harian reported that coach Park Joo-bong of South Korea did not want to risk the pair, who had been split after their poor performance in the Sudirman Cup and World Championships in May, at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in September before a home crowd.
Two pairs have pulled out of the event so far: Choong and Lee and Indonesia's second seeded Flandy Limpele and Eng Hian, who quit badminton in June. (yan)
