China technology exhibited

JAKARTA (JP): Around 127 state-owned companies of China yesterday opened a science and technology exhibition that will last until Monday, at the Jakarta Fairground in Kemayoran.

The expo, called the China Science and Technology Exhibition `94, was opened by the vice chairman for technology development of the Agency for Technology Assessment and Application (BPPT), Harijono Djojodihardjo.

China, which resumed diplomatic relations with Indonesia in 1990 after a freeze of over 20 years, is introducing the latest industrial products and technologies in aerospace, post, telecommunications, power generation, petrochemical, oil, gas, medical, pharmaceutical and nuclear sectors.

The expo, which is jointly organized by the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, the China Industrial Economic Exhibition Exchange Center, Top Repute Company of Hong Kong and Indonesia's PT Ariesta Pameratama, specifically carried the China Aerospace Corp. to display its famous products of space launch vehicles, spacecraft, strategic and tactical missiles as well as ground application.

According to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Chinas cumulative investments in Indonesia since 1967 reached US$153.2 million for 21 projects as of Oct. 15. (fhp)
