Chechnya

I wish to point out a disturbing printing error in my letter entitled Chechnya and Russian polls (The Jakarta Post, June 29, 1996). The relevant part of the letter in the third paragraph should have read as follows: "......On one hand, the fact that Russia is so different from the West in terms of history, culture and even religion could drive most Russians to vote for Zyuganov's platform of stronger opposition to the West. Moreover, Yeltsin is not exactly a popular figure as attested by his big loss to Zyuganov's group in the Duma (parliament's lower house) election in December 1995."
