Cheap paintings on sale at bazaar

JAKARTA (JP): Dozens of paintings from noted painters as well
as younger artists are on sale at discounted prices in a bazaar
sponsored by the Indonesian Women Painters Association between on
Nov. 2 and Dec. 6.

The bazaar, held at the association's office on Jl. Agus Salim
in Central Jakarta, features paintings sold at up to Rp 1 million
(US$125) each.

"Half of the sales of the paintings will be used to buy staple
food to be donated to the needy on Dec. 17," the association said
in a statement on Friday.

The paintings offered include art works by popular names, such
as Sri Hadhy, Maria Tjui, Cak Kandar, Michael Tanzil, Z. Sutanto
and Suyadi alias Pak Raden. (jun)
