Cheap auto parts go on sale soon

JAKARTA (JP): The City Land Transportation Agency in cooperation with several car agents and part manufacturers will hold a six-month sale on auto parts for owners of public buses.

The agency's chairman, Aip Sjarifudin, promised yesterday that spare parts would be sold for 30 percent less than market prices.

The market operation will involve car agents Indomobil, Astra and Kramayudha, carmaker Mercedes, tire producer Intirub and batterymaker Yuasa.

Aip said the operation would be launched on April 15.

Spare parts and lubricants are to be on sale and organizers will also offer basic commodities for workers in the auto sector.

Soaring prices have reportedly forced the grounding of about 30 percent of public transportation vehicles in Greater Jakarta.

The operation will be conducted at the city's main bus terminals, including Lebak Bulus, Kampung Rambutan, Pulogadung and Kalideres, Antara reported. (pan)
