Chaotic traffic in Kampung Melayu

JAKARTA (JP): Traffic around the Kampung Melayu bus terminal
in East Jakarta is becoming more chaotic due to the way busses
stop indiscriminately.

Their unpredictability is hindering traffic flow in the area,
the Antara news agency reported on Tuesday, and endangers
passengers, most of whom are forced to get off along the busy
roads outside the terminal.

Many bus drivers do not pay much attention to passenger safety
as their buses are packed far beyond capacity.

Unfortunately this chaotic situation is worsened by the
operation of sidewalk vendors offering fruit, foods and other
goods around the terminal. (hhr)
