Chain collision at Jagorawi
Five vehicles were involved in a chain collision on the Jagorawi highway in Cililitan, East Jakarta, on Monday. No casualties were reported in the accident which involved a car belonging to a member of the House of Representatives (DPR).
"Nobody involved in the collision suffered any injuries, not even a bruise," said head of the traffic police of the City Police, Maj. Irsan Wijaya.
The accident happened at around 8 a.m. when a Mayasari city bus hit a sedan driven by House member Suryo Handjono.
As Suryo, who is a member of the Armed Forces (ABRI) faction of the House, stopped his car to see the damage, a speeding, unloaded light truck coming from behind lost control and smashed into two other cars behind Suryo's sedan.
Impelled by the impact of the truck, the two cars then smashed into Suryo's car from behind.
A speeding Peugeot sedan coming from behind also lost control and hit the rear of the light truck.
Irsan said that witnesses failed to record the license plate number of the Mayasari bus which hit Suryo's car as the bus sped off soon after the accident. (bsr)
