Central Java Police dismiss 13 members

SEMARANG: The Central Java Police took disciplinary action against 65 officers between January and April of this year, with 13 of the officers being dismissed from the force.

Of the 13 dismissed officers, one worked at the provincial police headquarters, while the rest were posted in various precincts across the province.

The Central Java Police chief, Insp. Gen. Erwin M.A.P., said on Monday the officers had been dismissed either for desertion, some indecency or for committing a crime.

He said he would not hesitate to levy the most serious of punishments on any officer guilty of a gross violation, because the credibility of the police was at stake.

Punishment, he added, was handed down to uphold discipline, which police officers need to do their jobs.

Erwin also honored 27 distinguished officers over this same period. -- Antara
