Central Jakarta gets new police chief

JAKARTA: Central Jakarta municipality, home to important government offices and upmarket residential complexes, has a new police chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Sukrawardi Dahlan, who replaced Sr. Comr. Edmon Ilyas.

Sukrawardi previously served as the head of the noncommissioned police officers school in Lido, Sukabumi. He is being replaced by Adj. Anang Iskandar, who headed a similar school in Mojokerto, East Java.

Outgoing Edmon has been promoted as the city's police chief of detectives for special crimes.

Sukrawardi and Edmon were installed on Wednesday by city police chief Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanagara.

Also installed during the same ceremony were Sr. Comr. Irawan Dahlan and Sr. Comr. Carlo Tewu as the chief of city police internal affairs and the chief of detectives for narcotics respectively. --JP
