Cement price hits record

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Cement prices in the remote Puncak Jaya
capital of Mulia have risen to a world record of Rp 750,000
(US$95) per sack of 50 kilograms, an official said on Monday.

The regency's head of administration affairs, Henoch Ibo, told
Antara the skyrocketing price was prompted by the scarcity of
supply.

The prices in other regencies of the province vary between Rp
22,500 and Rp 25,000.
