Cathay flies to San Francisco

JAKARTA (JP): Cathay Pacific Airways will begin serving the Hong Kong-San Francisco route daily Dec. 1, to expand its trans- Pacific coverage, the airline announced Friday.

The new route would bring the total of Cathay's North America services to 49 flights. The airline currently flies non-stop to Los Angeles and Vancouver, and to New York and Toronto.

The airline said it would operate Airbus Industrie A340-300 aircraft for the route. The aircraft can seat 249 people.

Cathay currently serves Jakarta-Hong Kong, non-stop and via Singapore, 10 times a week. It also flies to Surabaya, East Java, two times a week and to Denpasar, Bali, daily. (das)
