JAKARTA: State Minister of State Enterprises Laksamana Sukardi
promised on Thursday to give early bonuses to all Indonesian
shuttlers playing in the Thomas and Uber Cups, hoping that it
would encourage them to win the trophies.

The bonuses will amount to Rp 75 million (US$8,823).

Accompanied by the chef de mission of the Indonesian squad,
Lutfi Hamid, and chairman of the Indonesian Badminton
Association, Chaerul Tanjung, Laksamana met the players during
training at Bung Karno Indoor Stadium.

He promised that bigger bonuses awaited them once the
Indonesian team succeeded in the bids, but he refused to mention
the amount. -- JP
