Cartoons and humor

The letter from Janielle Wilson of Bontang, East Kalimantan, complaining about the post-London bombings cartoon in The Jakarta Post on July 15 was utter nonsense.

Although I am British, I did not take offense at it and know of no other expats who did either. My interpretation of it was that it was not intended to be funny but to make a very bleak point that terrorists are there in our (British) hair, which on the face of the evidence is undeniable.

Cartoons may carry messages other than humor.
