BANDUNG: Ten cartoonists from nine countries in East and Southeast Asia are currently displaying their work at the Soemardja Gallery here.

The gallery is located in the compound of the School of Fine Arts and Design of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Around 90 caricatures will be exhibited until May 25.

The ten cartoonists are Indonesia's G.M Sudarta, China's Miao Yin Tang, Thailand's Annop Kitichaiwan, the Philippines' Renato Roni Santiago, Malaysia's Lat, Korea's Kim Song-hwan, India's Mario de Miranda, Myanmar's Aw Pi Kyeh, and Japan's Kushara Takao and Morita Kenji.

Exhibition organizer Oco Santoso said that most of the caricatures had been selected from work produced in 1998 when the economic crisis first hit most Asian countries.

The exhibition, which was opened on Tuesday, was sponsored by the Japan Foundation.(25)
