Carnaval time at fairgrounds

JAKARTA (JP): Performers from Brazil, Australia and Poland are
among the attractions of the Jakarta Carnaval at the Jakarta
Fairgrounds through next Sunday.

The Jakarta Percussion Festival is also being staged at the
same in venue in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, tomorrow and
Wednesday.

Australia is represented by the group Tokakros, which joins
Jakarta's clowns, Maluku's lenso dancers and performers from West
Java and Lampung. Debus trance performers from Banten, West Java,
who stab themselves without bleeding, are another attraction.

Polish performers and Brazil's Samba dancers are scheduled
from July 9 to July 13, along with representatives of the Asmat
in Irian Jaya, and cheerleaders and marching bands of Jakarta.
