Caribbean cuisine on the menu at Planet Hollywood

JAKARTA (JP): Planet Hollywood is promising a treat for those who like their food hot and spicy but with a tart twist.

The restaurant is offering a special menu of food and drink from the islands of the Caribbean until Oct. 27.

"We believe that the spices used in Caribbean dishes will be to Indonesians' liking," said the restaurant's assistant sales and marketing director, Ririn Wahyuningrum.

The dishes have a zip to them, but Ririn said it's from select use of a medley of spices. One chicken dish is served with jerk, the notoriously hot green chili marinade which is bound to leave even the most ardent chili lovers with something to think about.

At a recent media preview, the items served up included Char- grilled Ribeye Steak Adobo (pictured), which was presented with grilled asparagus, deep-fried potato wedges and grilled corn pineapple relish; Creole Sea Scallops in a Creole sauce; and Caribbean Coconut Shrimp, with shrimp dipped in a beer batter, rolled in toasted coconut and fried until golden brown. For dessert, there was banana supreme, a West Indies version of banana bread.

In conjunction with the promotion, there is a prize of a Caribbean trip for two. Promotional merchandise for the event includes special sandals and a limited edition pair of sunglasses, the latter provided free with every special Caribbean drink purchase. (brc)
