Caretaker named for Muna regency

RAHA, Southeast Sulawesi: Southeast Sulawesi Governor La Ode
Kaimoeddin has appointed one of his assistants as caretaker to
run the Muna regency administration to fill in the post vacated
by Col. M. Saleh Lasata, Antara reported.

Saleh was recently appointed as a member of the provincial
legislative council for the 1997/2002 period.

The governor named Ahmad Jamaluddin, the provincial
secretary's first assistant, to run the regency's administration
for the next six months and to prepare for the election of a new
regent.

He also asked the newly inducted provincial assembly to begin
deliberation on candidates for a new regent. (10)
