Car theft solved within five hours

JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested a Bogor resident on Wednesday for allegedly stealing a car in Cimanggis, East Jakarta, five hours earlier.

The suspect was spotted driving a stolen Suzuki Katana in Ciracas by a Mobile Brigade patrol.

The officers chased the stolen car until they reached the Ciracas toll road, Jakarta Police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday.

The owner of the car, Johny Malonda, told police that his car was stolen from in front of his house on Jl. Putri Tunggal at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The suspect, a 32-year-old resident of Palsi Gunung in Bogor, used a duplicate key to start the car, Aritonang said.
