Car robbery on toll road

JAKARTA (JP): A driver was dumped on Friday in Tanjung Anom village, Tangerang, after his van was stolen by four men who stopped to help him change a tire on the Jakarta-Merak toll road.

"I was driving home to Tangerang, when I suddenly got a flat tire. I pulled over to change it," Yanto, 36, told police officers.

A Kijang van with four passengers approached his vehicle while he was changing the tire at about 8:00 a.m.

"The four people helped me change the tire," he said.

"But as soon as they finished, one of them put a gun to my neck, while another held a knife to me. They also handcuffed me and sealed my mouth with cellophane tape," Yanto said.

The men took Yanto's Kijang van and dumped him in Tanjung Anom village to cover their trail. Yanto managed to free himself and asked for help from the villagers, who later took him to the nearest police station. (05/41)
