Car rental driver found dying

JAKARTA (JP): A car rental driver, who claims to have been beaten by three youngsters, was found in a critical condition on Jl. Patal Senayan, Central Jakarta, yesterday morning.

His vehicle was missing.

The driver, identified as A'ang, 50, was taken to the rental base on Jl. Teluk Betung in Central Jakarta before being rushed to Abdi Waluyo hospital on Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto in Menteng. His condition was becoming critical, Yusuf Munawar, the owner of the car, said.

Yusuf said A'ang was still conscious when he arrived at the rental base.

"He could still explain that he had been beaten by three youngsters and was left on Jl. Patal Senayan. His cab was taken by the youngsters," said Yusuf.

However, Yusuf said he doubted A'ang's statement as he smelt the odor of drugs on his breath. Moreover, A'ang was also delirious.

"When I asked him whether he had consumed any drugs, he answered no," said Yusuf.

He said that A'ang was hired by a young man for three hours on Thursday night.

Police also questioned Yusuf for their investigation. (09)
