JAKARTA (JP): Canada's newest ship, which it proudly claims as
"one of the world's most technologically advanced", will visit
Jakarta from June 23 through 25.
The Halifax class frigate HMCS Regina commissioned on Sept.
30, 1994, can carry 224 sailors. The 5,200 ton ship houses a
sophisticated array of high technology equipment, according to
the Canadian embassy.
The general purpose frigate can carry out a variety of
missions, such as search and rescues, fisheries monitoring and
sovereignty and pollution patrol.
The call is part of HMCS Regina's inaugural tour of Southeast
Asian countries. (pan)
