Canada, RI sign techno deal
JAKARTA (JP): The Canadian and Indonesian governments have agreed to cooperate on a two-year project called Canada-Indonesia Technology Network.
Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Gary J. Smith and the vice chairman of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology, Zuhal, signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday to start the project later this month, an embassy statement said.
The Canadian government agreed to contribute C$545,000 (US$385,000) to the project, it said.
The network will focus on small and medium companies, providing them with information and technology services through the Internet, such as on marketing opportunities in the two countries.
It will involve several of Indonesia's research institutions helping the companies develop their own research and development departments. (das)
