Canada extends aid to RI
JAKARTA (JP): Canadian Ambassador Lawrence T. Dickenson and Minister of Cooperatives and Small Enterprises Subiakto Tjakrawerdaya yesterday signed an accord for the implementation of a private enterprise project.
The project, with a Canadian contribution of Rp 8 billion (US$3.4 million), recognizes that the private sector is the engine of growth in Indonesia and stresses broadening the participation of small and medium enterprises in the economy, the Canadian embassy said in a statement.
The goal of the private enterprise project is to promote Indonesia's continuing economic development by enhancing the management capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises. The project will try to strengthen business links between small and medium enterprises in the two countries.
The project takes a unique approach, since the activities will be directed towards Indonesian linkages between small and medium enterprises which are current or potential partners of joint ventures with Canadian firms. (icn)
