Campuses must be campaign-free: Rector

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Bowing to student demands, the Rector of Haluoleo University, Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, prohibited on Wednesday presidential candidates from campaigning on the university premises.

The decision was, however, made on practical grounds.

"The students will be sitting examinations in June and July, and the campaign could distract them," said university rector Mahmud Hamundu.

Presidential campaigning began on June 1 and will end on July 1. -- JP
