Campaigning allowed on campus

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: Mahmud Hamundu, the rector of Haluoleo University in Kendari, said on Wednesday that the university would allow presidential and vice presidential candidates to campaign in the university.

"The decision was hammered out during a senate meeting at the university on Monday," said Mahmud.

The permit was granted to boost political education on campus. "The students have to know the vision, mission and program of their favorite presidential and vice presidential candidates first hand before they vote for them," he said.

The campaign will be in the form of a panel discussion, if there are more than one pair of candidates.

If there are only one pair, the students will hold a dialog with them, he said. -- JP
