Calvin Klein opens franchise
JAKARTA (JP): American designer Calvin Klein opened Saturday the first freestanding fashion store here at the Plaza Indonesia's terrace on Jl. M.H. Thamrin.
The Jakarta store's president director, Dian M. Soedarjo, said the fashion store, which occupies more than 450 square meters, specializes in clothing.
Designer Klein, who claims to have had a dominant force in fashion for more than 25 years, said that he created the world of clothing, accessories and fragrance.
"Fashion in Indonesia is growing so fast that we are very upbeat about opening the store," Dian said, adding that a similar outlet was also opened in Hong Kong on the same day.
She said her company was aware of the rampant forgery here of foreign products.
"How can we tackle the forgery because even employees at department stores cannot tell the difference as to which ones are forged?" Dian asked, adding that so far, there is no available data on forgery.
She said the opening of the franchise would assist customers to locate original products. "We guarantee the quality."
The opening ceremony included a fashion show involving some 30 female and male models. (07)
