Cahaya Hati donates library

TANGERANG: The Cahaya Hati Bangsa Foundation has donated a library containing 700 books to fishermen and their families in West Mauk village, Mauk district, Tangerang regency, the library's manager Yaya Sunarya said on Wednesday.

"The books were donated by some publishers, including Gramedia," Yaya, also the principal of Setia Bhakti state elementary school, was quoted by Antara as saying.

He said the foundation had donated Rp 6.5 million to build the five meter by five meter library building, which was equipped with desks and long benches.

He said the library was not only for children and students, but also for their parents as many of the books were about fishing and sewing skills.

Meanwhile, foundation chairman Aziz Miraza said that the foundation had set up a cooperative arrangement with a private television station, a restaurant chain and a book publisher to build 13 other libraries in deprived areas across the country.--JP
