C. Java waits doping results

SEMARANG (JP): The National Sports Council (KONI) Central Java
chapter is still waiting for confirmation from KONI on the
statement from the 15th National Games (PON) organizing committee
chairman Imam Oetomo that nine athletes tested positive for using
banned substances during the quadrennial event in Surabaya in
June.

The chapter deputy in charge of athletes development Dedy
Kurniawan said on Saturday that KONI would send a confirmation
letter next week listing the name of athletes from Central Java
and Jakarta.

Imam said on Thursday that there were nine athletes from both
provinces found guilty of using banned substances.

Dedy said the chapter would call the athletes, coaches,
officials and team doctor to discuss the matter. But he had no
idea on the punishment for the athletes as it was up to each
sports organizations to decide.

He also said the chapter had yet to discuss if it would take
away the cash bonuses from the guilty athletes. (har)
