C. Java to join dance fest

SEMARANG: The province of Central Java is to represent Indonesia in the World Folk Dance Festival to be held on the Greek island of Lefkada from Aug. 17 to Aug. 21, an official said here Friday.

The provincial art troupe's participation is a great honor for Central Java, its executive coordinator, Uludjowo, said.

He said that on the first day, the group would stage the Ardaninggar Kelaswara Dance, and on the second, the Topeng Panji and the Ramayana ballet.

The group will also hold a separate performance featuring renowned Indonesian keroncong singer, Waljinah. About 70 countries are expected to participate in the festival. (swe)
