C. Java rower allegedly took drug

SEMARANG (JP): An unidentified Central Java rower allegedly consumed banned substances before competing in the 2000 National Games (PON) in East Java in June.

But the coordinator of Central Java medical team, Dr. Anon Surendro, said here Monday that the athlete had yet to prove that he or she was free from illegal substances in a drug test.

"The doping allegation is not legal without supporting facts. I have learned that there is a Central Java athlete who allegedly took banned substance. But if he or she can give proof to deny this, I think the findings will be reliable," he said without mentioning a name.

Anon said that many doping cases were caused by the athlete's ignorance and most of them did it unintentionally. (har)
