Bye-bye Bandung

Before I unplug the MAC from the socket, I have to write one last letter from Bandung. Bandung is the birth place of my daughter.

Here, there is 100.55 The Jazz Wave, an FM station that plays great Brazilian music. Bossa Nova with Vinicius de Moraes, Sergio Mendes and Milton Nascimento.

There are cool evenings and -- as I say to the folks back home -- a volcano in the backyard. I am going to miss all that.

There were 120 letters to The Jakarta Post, since I arrived here. The envelope with the clippings weighs almost half a kilogram. And I am not through yet.

If one of these days one of my letters to this column gives my address as Jakarta, it will not be a mistake.
