Busway shut during Aug. 17 ceremony

JAKARTA: TransJakarta Busway Management announced on Friday that it would suspend the busway's operation on Aug. 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the duration of the Independence Day ceremony at the presidential palace.

"We will also suspend operation from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the flag-lowering ceremony at the palace," management head Irzal Z. Djamal said.

Busway buses will run before 8 a.m., between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and after 7 p.m. on the day.

Jakarta's thoroughfares around the palace will be closed to motorists during the ceremony.

"We apologize for the inconvenience. We will resume normal operations from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. the next day," Irzal said. -- JP
