Busway nets Rp 41b in a year
JAKARTA: Revenue from busway tickets sold from Feb. 1, 2004 until Jan. 21 has reached Rp 41.3 billion (US$4.64 million), which was beyond expectation, according to the busway management.
"We can finance all operational expenses with the revenue ... no other public transportation management in the world is this self-sufficient," BP TransJakarta director Irzal Z Djamal exulted.
The busway earned Rp 2.4 billion in the first three weeks of this year, said Irzal as quoted by the city's official online news portal Beritajakarta.com.
The busway operator is currently looking for female drivers.
An executive of the busway operator PT Jakarta Express Trans, Ibnu Susanto, said that 15 women had applied for the job. "They were former drivers for expatriates, others have experience as truck drivers, even drivers of public minivans." -- JP
