Businessmen blame slump on thugs

BOGOR: The recent riots in Puncak resort have greatly affected the tourism business in the area.

Rafless restaurant, which is located in Cisarua district, suffered a decline of 60 percent, following the raids of some hotels and suspected brothels two weeks ago, according to Wawan Setiawan, the operational manager.

He added that his restaurant was closed for several days after the riots.

Alam Segar restaurant also saw a 30 percent decrease in turnover.

About 300 people, angered over suspicions of rampant sex and alcohol consumption, and armed with sticks and Molotov cocktails, set fire to several hotels and vandalized suspected brothels in Cipayung district. They also robbed many of the customers who were at the hotels and restaurants in the area. --JP
