Business permits

From Media Indonesia

The Decree of the Minister of Industry and Trade No. 591/MPP/Kep/10/1999 of October 13, 1999 lays down, among other things, the procedures and requirements for an application for a business permit by owners of corporate entities. While the owners of such corporations are interested in obtaining business permits, many are still in the dark about how to go about it. Generally, they do not really understand the necessity of possessing this permit or the correct procedures for filing in an application for the license.

Unfortunately, some other government agencies also have their own regulations about which bodies/entities should or should not be required to possess business permits. A case in point is the South Jakarta Telkom office. It stipulates that a foundation must possess a business permit while, in fact, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has clearly stipulated that a foundation cannot obtain a business permit.

To prevent the public from being prejudiced, the government and the ministry must make clear which institutions are authorized to determine the entities that are required to possess business permits.
