Bus passengers duped, robbed

JAKARTA: Nana Suryana, 44, lost Rp 600,000 (some US$67) from his wallet, a cellular phone and his bag while aboard an air- conditioned bus, which took him from Kalideres bus terminal to Pulo Gadung bus terminal on Friday.

"I was duped," he later told the police, "I drank milk offered by a passenger sitting next to me. I don't remember anything afterward."

The only thing left was a cardboard box, which Nana had stowed under his seat. "If I had not put my feet on the box, it would have been gone," he was quoted as saying by Antara.

A resident of Cicangkal village, Bogor, Nana had intended on taking the bus from Pulo Gadung terminal to Jambi in Sumatra.

According to Pulo Gadung Police, Nana is the fourth holidaymaker in the area to fall victim to such a crime. -- JP
