Bus fares for school children

From Media Indonesia

I read in this paper on April 9, 1996, concerning the bus fare for school children. Although the other fares have increased, school children still pay the old fare, i.e. Rp 100. The problem is that many bus drivers are reluctant to pick them up. This is unfair. They have to spend a long time waiting for buses willing to take them. As a result they often arrive at school late.

Their future is also the future of the country.

The bus fare for school children and university students has been Rp 100 since 1987. I think an increase of Rp 50 would be acceptable and that students would tolerate it.
