Bus crash kills four in Bogor

BOGOR (JP): Four people were killed and 10 seriously injured on Monday morning in a bus collision on Jagorawi toll road in the Sentul area, which witnesses said was caused by the bus driver's negligence.

Passengers of Indah Murni bus repeatedly warned bus driver Cecep Syahputra of his reckless driving as soon as they left Baranangsiang bus terminal in Bogor, said one passenger, Tuti, 35, who suffered light injuries. But the driver did not listen, she added.

The accident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. when Cecep was attempting to pass another Indah Murni bus in front of him, but instead hit the truck, the head of the traffic unit at Bogor Police, Comr. Sugiri, said.

"The bus driver was driving recklessly. He tried to pass the other vehicle from the left, and hit a truck which was parked on the side of the road, which was having a tire changed by the driver," he said.

Cecep fled the scene immediately after the accident.
