Bus accident kills one, injures 15

BOGOR: One person was killed and 15 others injured when a
passenger bus crashed into a group of junior high school students
in Cibinong, Bogor, on Tuesday.

The deceased, Waryono, was on a motorcycle with his wife and
eight-month-old baby when the bus hit them.

Waryono's wife was able to jump from the motorcycle and
escaped unscathed, while her baby was thrown about three meters,
sustaining a head injury.

The bus, which plies the Depok-Bekasi route, was reportedly
traveling at high speed at the time of the accident. The driver,
Yusuf, 48, apparently lost control of the vehicle when he tried
to stop for a group of students waiting for a bus.

Those injured in the accident, mostly students of An-Nur
junior high school, are being treated at Bina Husada hospital on
Jl. Major Oking in Cibinong. Yusuf is being detained at the Bogor
Police office. --JP
