Bus accident injures 13

BOGOR: A tourist bus plummeted 15 meters into a ravine in Cisarua, Bogor on Saturday, injuring 13 University of Indonesia students (UI), three of them seriously.

The bus was carrying a group of psychology students to Jakarta after they attended a function with new students at a villa in Cisarua.

The accident happened when the driver of the bus lost control his vehicle after the breaks failed.

At least three students suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Indonesian Red Cross Hospital in Bogor. Ten other suffered minor cuts and bruises and were treated at the Sanatorium Hospital in Cisarua.

"Of the three students, only one is still here, while the two others have been moved to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (in Central Jakarta) and Medistra Hospital (in South Jakarta)," said the Red Cross spokesman Saptono Rahardjo on Saturday. --Antara
