Burglars steal research data

BOGOR: Burglars broke into the Rubber Technology Research
Center at Jl. Salak 1, Bogor, early on Friday and stole two
Personal Computers (PCs) and a printer at the physics analysis
laboratory. The burglary cost the center all its research data.

A staff member at the center, Suhara, said the burglary took
place at around 3 a.m. The burglars apparently entered the center
through a window in the laboratory.

Two security officers, Ucu Suhardi and Suhendar, claimed that
they only found out about the burglary at 7:30 a.m. after seeing
the open window.

A similar crime also took place at the Biotechnology
Plantation Research Unit at Jl. Taman Kencana 1, Bogor, which is
located near the center.

A researcher, Asmini, said the burglars took three PCs.

"I also lost all my data for my doctoral thesis," she groaned.

The unit also lost all data on the research of genetics
engineering and enzyme isolation. -- JP
