Bureaucrats' wives order around

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: Bureaucrats' wives got a rare piece of mind yesterday. They were advised to stop playing a backseat driver for their husbands.

The advice came from Mrs. Oemarsono, chairperson of the provincial chapter of the Association of Civil Servants' Wives.

She said the wives of some bureaucrats have gone as far as ordering around their husband's subordinates.

"This needs serious attention," she was quoted by Antara as saying. "What the association's members should do is give moral support to their husbands."

Indonesian civil servants celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Civil Servants Corps yesterday. (pan)
