Bullets found at cemetery

YOGYAKARTA: As many as 207 bullets were discovered on Friday morning at the Tahunan public cemetery in Umbulharjo district in Yogyakarta.

The bullets were found by a grave digger at the cemetery, Suparman.

The Umbulhardjo Police are holding the bullets and are investigating the matter.

Suparman told reporters that he found the bullets while digging a grave.

"When I was digging, I hit some metal. When I looked down I saw the bullets. I was afraid they might explode, so I took them directly to the police," he said.

The deputy chief of the Umbulharjo Police, First Insp. Heru Setiawan, said all of the some 207 bullets were live.

Over 100 of the bullets are used for Baretta FN Garant guns, while the rest are of various types. The bullets are thought to date back to the World War II era. -- JP
