Bukaka clarifies WB deals
JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed engineering and design company PT Bukaka Teknik Utama stated yesterday it got no projects directly from the World Bank.
The company clarified its role in World Bank projects in Indonesia after newspaper reports said the company had been awarded several projects financed directly by the World bank.
The company said it was finalizing several big projects funded by the World Bank through government agencies and was negotiating with the government and private agencies for new projects.
The Jakarta Post recently reported that the company planned to install 150,000 telephone lines in Jakarta and East Java starting in April.
The company's investor relations manager, Elaine Eleazar, said each telephone line would cost US$1,000. It would cost Bukaka about US$150 million to install the lines. (09)
