Building demolished

JAKARTA (JP): Private company PT City Neon Prima Mandiri itself demolished on Tuesday its exhibition building in the eastern parking lot of the Bung Karno sport complex in Central Jakarta after being threatened that the structure would be forcibly demolished.

Witnessed by some officials from the Central Jakarta Mayoralty, the company's employees tore down the building.

Governor Sutiyoso had often said that his administration would demolish all buildings in the sports complex which were not used for sporting activities in accordance with a city bylaw.

The administration had earlier demolished an exhibition building owned by PT Anggara Ind., which was also located in the sports complex, but did nothing to the one owned by City Neon.

It was not until the administration was criticized by the public for favoring City Neon that it ordered the demolition of the building. (jun)
