Buana Putri dominates women's soccer invitational

JAKARTA (JP): Favorite Buana Putri women's soccer team from Jakarta whitewashed Putri Mataram of Yogyakarta 5-0 in the Group A match of the 2001 women's soccer invitational at the AS-IOP soccer pitch in the Bung Karno sports complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Monday.

Striker Yakso Bukor Piopen kicked three of the five goals in the 14th, 49th and 56th minutes. Yakso now tops the scorers with nine goals after two matches. The 30-year-old scored six of the seven goals when Buana Putri crushed Putri Jatim 7-1 in Saturday's opener.

Yakso's partner Maryana earned one goal in the 26th minute and midfielder Siti Mursati sealed the team's victory in the 63rd minute.

In another Group A match, Wiwik Finarsih's single goal in the 57th minute took Putri Belitung of South Sumatra to a narrow 1-0 victory over Putri Jatim of Surabaya.

Sarafi, 19, kicked the first goal for Bangka Putri just 48 seconds after the opening whistle but Ai Tarmilah of Bandung's Putri Priangan equalized in the 16th minute.

State University of Jakarta (UNJ) routed Putri Mojolaban from Surakarta, Central Java, 2-0.

Striker Hafifah Zahrah scored all of her team's goals in the eighth and 21st minutes respectively. (ivy)
