Cannonball Run (Lativi, 7 p.m.). Starring Burt Reynolds, Dom Deluise, Roger Moore, Farrah Fawcett, Jackie Chan, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Shirley Maclaine. Directed by Hal Needham.
It's silly slapstick time as Reynolds, before he disappeared to nowhere, plays it broad with Deluise (his jolly fat guy turn) as they compete with assorted dysfunctional others in a cross- country car race for the money pot at the end of the road. It's a curious, uneasy throwback to a PC-less world, with the blatant T and A jokes coming fast and furious, plus an incredibly bigoted performance from Jamie Farr as an Arab. Still, it's the station's pick to celebrate its anniversary (!), and it does have the redeeming qualities of a bubbly Fawcett, Chan coming to Hollywood (even if he is playing the stereotype of a bumbling Asian abroad) and a set of hilarious bloopers, if you can stay awake to the end. If you like Warkop, this will be to your liking; if not, switch to the Watergate drama All The President's Men on MetroTV.
