Brothers arrested for assault

JAKARTA (JP): Police have arrested two brothers for assaulting a neighbor at a housing complex on Jl. Siliwangi in the Jati Asih district, Bekasi.

City Police Spokesman Maj. I Nyoman Suriasta said on Saturday that the two brothers, identified as Ibrahim, 23, and M. Toha, 24, badly beat up their neighbor, identified as Sugeng Warto, on Thursday night.

"The two brothers, drunk, beat the victim for telling them not to drink liquor in the area," officer Nyoman said yesterday.

Toha hit the victim in the head with a crow bar while Ibrahim bit the victim's left ear, he said.

The two brothers were detained by local residents, who took the men to the nearby police subprecinct.

Sugeng is now being treated at a hospital in Bekasi, he added. (jun)
