Britain to review travel advisory

JAKARTA: Visiting British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jack Straw said on Friday his government planned to review and change the travel advisory against Indonesia.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Indonesian Vice President Hamzah Haz on Friday, Straw underlined, however, that it was his government's duty to ensure the security of its citizens.

"We have already improved the travel advice against Indonesia, but we will review and change the travel advice as soon as we are able," the minister said.

He explained that the British government hoped to give the safest and most comforting impression possible on Indonesia as dictated by facts.

The minister continued his Southeast Asian tour to Kuala Lumpur after the meeting. --JP.
