Bribery in education must be eliminated

I am taking the post-graduate program in the Jakarta State University. I will be conducting a survey under the theme Relationships of neurotic disorder to IQ, religiousness, and socio-economic status of primary school children.

However, I feel very concerned about the rumors of bribery practices prevailing in these graduate studies. Of course such malpractice could not be proved. Should anyone dare to speak of bribery, he or she might be accused of libel and brought to court.

It should be realized that bribery practices will gradually and systematically destroy our national education, and will lower the quality of the education. Eventually the institutions concerned will only produce bogus scientists, academicians, and the like. This is a very serious problem, indeed, especially for a developing country like ours.

Practices of bribery should be completely eliminated if we are to maintain higher standards of education.
